Ibrox/Cessnock Community Council Meeting Minutes January 2019
JK - Up date re Event Day Parking. Due to number of objections there will now be a Public Inquiry. JK will keep us informed of any timescales. Shisha Bar on Paisley Rd West – Issues around parking are being looked at. Anti -Social Behaviour at Copland Court Hostel, JK liaising with Social Work to seek a solution. SD – Informed the meeting that Govan East Community Council is now establish. Govan Graving Dock is in their area. They meet at the Riverside Hall 4.45 pm every 3rd Tuesday. The Govan Fair Committee have applied for a Procession License to follow the old original route. It appears that a new group has been set up and SD will seek to clarify. RB - Council has been in recess. RB has received many complaints about cleansing particularly in the Ibrox/Cessnock Area. RB has met with Stevie Scott a member of the senior management team to ask him to investigate the increase in the level of complaints in our area. The old Cartvale School is to become an annexe for the Glasgow Gaelic School from Aug 19 and is currently being refurbished. The work is on track and there is no need for a Public Consultation as it is not a standalone School but an Annexe. This is being funded from The Scottish Government Budget and will possibly include a Gaelic Nursery Class. Residents Forum CN raised the potential issue of Traffic dropping off at the new Gaelic School Site when it opens in August. JF raised the issue of traffic using CoplandRd, Ibrox Terrace ad Merrick Gardens as a rat run to avoid the lights. Merrick Gardens is supposed to be access only however the signs are missing and the situation is becoming dangerous for pedestrians. Councillors will look into this and feedback at next meeting. We will ask Councillor Young for an update as he was dealing with this originally. CN advised that there is a Private members bill due to be going through Holyrood to restrict all residential streets to 20mph. RB advised that Glasgow City Council had already taken a decision to implement this however it is on hold due to the G51 campaign in our area. TG advised that repairs had recently been made to potholes in Clifford Street Treasurers Report: All invoices are paid up to date Planning Updates: JF advised that there is a planning Application in to upgrade the exterior of the Park Bar. The drawings were circulated and welcomed by the Community Council. Future Guest Speakers: The CC has received a number of requests from people who wish to address the CC. AW will contact them to arrange suitable dates we will take 1 Guest Speaker per meeting. Rangers: AW and JMK will be attending the next Rangers Community Forum on the 20th February. Community Council Development Day: IH gave a brief report on the latest Development Day where there was a very informative update on GDPR given and commended future sessions to any Community Councillors who would wish to attend. AOCB : AW advised he meeting that a previous member of our C.C is now residing in Kinning Park Care Home should anyone wish to visit him.
